The birth of Brussels Celtic Trad association happened during one evening on March 2007, at « La Porte Noire », one of rare places in Brussels where Celtic music is on top. Fans met and while talking came a wish : creating the 1st Celtic Music Festival in the European Capital. The name of the association is related to their city, as they are all coming from Brussels. Although Brussels is rich in all kind of cultures and arts, we must acknowledge that Celtic music and traditions have no representation in the European capital. Our deepest wish is so to make discover and appreciate the values of the Celtic culture. Celtic Trad had to wear an English name in order to respect the balance in our national languages, in order not to hurt the sensibility of our fellow countrymen… and also because our aim was to let discover Celtic music, tradition, art and values that Celtic people have brought for the harmony of the civilisations. We actually do not know a lot about the Celts because druids favouring the memory, refused to write down their knowledge. And because the Greeks and the Romans feared them, choosing so to caricature them instead of describing these people. Those relics show us one certainty : our ancestors the Gallic were Celt. They were those dread and famous warriors who did not fear death and the Kings of old ages fought over them for their courage. They were also tremendous goldsmiths, outstanding farmers, skilled carpenters, refined men who anyway were used to behead their enemies. Their druids believed in reincarnation and taught a wisdom worth the Greek high schools. The Celts’ epic going throughout Europe, their daily life, their wars from Egypt to Scotland, their gods and heroes so close to man, their magnificent tombs under a tumulus and their myths that Bards used to sing with their harp where Mother-Goddess is sitting near the knights at the Round Table… King Arthur is still riding his horse on the lands of Armoric during windy nights… Without neglecting the Celtic source in the British Isles we cannot forget our link to the Celtic civilization. |
